How to Change your PHP Version in cPanel

Our newest servers give you the option to run different versions of PHP on your account. This can be important when using multiple applications with different requirements.

The PHP versions currently supported are: PHP 5.6, 7.0 (default) and 7.2.

It’s really easy to change the PHP version for your website with a web hosting account with HostPapa. You’ll need to follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your cPanel
  2. Go to Software > Select PHP version
  3. Select the PHP version you need from the drop down menu and click Set as current

That’s it!

From the same screen your can also enable/disable PHP extensions like fileinfo, imagick, mbstring, zip etc.

If you click on Switch To PHP Options you’ll see a different set of variables that you can alter. From here you can modify variables like: max_input_vars, allow_url_fopen, memory_limit and others.

For variables that cannot be altered from this screen please open a new support ticket from your Dashboard and we’ll be happy to help you.
